Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Linux Software Repository Maintainer to join our team. This is a full-time contract job that requires the candidate to work from home. The selected individual will be responsible for managing and maintaining software repositories, ensuring their integrity, and resolving any issues that may arise.

The ideal candidate should have a strong background in Linux, bash scripting, C, and Python programming languages. Proficiency in compiling and creating software from source code, as well as knowledge of build system tools such as autotools, meson, ninja, cmake, make, pkg-config, scons, etc., is mandatory.

The chosen candidate will also be expected to:

  • Keep track of software dependencies;
  • Create and manage software patches;
  • Understand and create Makefiles as necessary;
  • Monitor and stay current with CVEs;
  • Maintain changelogs and other documentation;
  • Provide bug fixes and debugging support using gdb if needed;
  • Review changes;
  • Have knowledge of CVS and Git;
  • Connect with upstream developers for solutions if needed to resolve issues;
  • Possess good troubleshooting skills;

Bonus points will be given to candidates with knowledge of Slackware Linux, as this will be prioritized over those with knowledge of Redhat/Debian.
