Linux Software Repository Expert

We are seeking a highly skilled Linux Software Repository Expert to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Linux, programming languages, and software maintenance.

Job Summary:

The Linux Software Repository Expert will be responsible for managing and maintaining the integrity of a software repository. This includes updating, upgrading, and patching software components to ensure they are secure and function as expected.

  • Proficient in Linux, bash scripting, C, and Python programming languages.
  • Experience with compiling and creating software from source code, including knowledge of GCC and its cflags dflags prefix etc.
  • Familiarity with build system tools like Autotools, Meson, Ninja, CMake, Make, Pkg-Config, SCons, etc.
  • Keeping track of software dependencies and patches.
  • Ability to understand and create Makefiles as necessary.
  • Maintaining Changelogs and other documentation.
  • Providing bug fixes and debugging with GDB if needed.
  • Reviewing changes and connecting with upstream developers for solutions if needed.
  • Good troubleshooting skills and knowledge of Slackware Linux is a plus.

  • Fluent in English with good verbal and written skills.
  • Ability to work in a team as well as independently.
  • Should be able to resolve assigned tasks in the specified time-frame/deadlines.
