Job Description

As a Simulation Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and testing simulation models for power plants used in Emerson's Ovation products.

  • Modeling, testing, and tuning of assigned systems/sub-systems within agreed project scope and schedule.
  • Preparing, reviewing, and submitting data collection lists and functional design specifications to project leads.
  • Reviewing marked-up process and instrumentation diagrams and submitting them to project leads.
  • Supporting pre-factory acceptance tests and factory acceptance tests at various locations and fulfilling customer requirements as per project scope.
  • Following departmental quality procedures during various stages of projects and filling up quality-related checklists for assigned systems/sub-systems on regular basis.
  • Preparing and reviewing systems for expert reviews and model standalone tests.
  • Integrating all systems/sub-systems for testing and working closely with global modeling teams.
  • Performing work within established budgetary and schedule requirements.
  • Performing other duties as assigned from time to time.

This role involves working in a simulator project with a team of 4-5 engineers. You should have a good understanding of Ovation control systems, protections, interlocks, and permissive.

Required Skills and Qualifications

For this role, you need:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering or power plant engineering with 1-3 years of experience in coal or combined cycle power plant operation/modeling.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Minimum English language skills - speaking and writing.
  • The ability to apply knowledge in thermodynamics to design systems.
  • Able to work in a team.
  • Able to travel and work abroad 30-40% of the time.

Preferred qualifications that set you apart include any previous work experience with simulation/modeling tools, good knowledge of power plant processes and operations, and excellent communication skills.
