Supply Chain Manager Role Summary

This critical role oversees the end-to-end supply chain functions for a factory, including production planning and control (PPC), plant sourcing, logistics, scrap management, SCM data management, MIS, and projects management.

The Plant Supply Chain Manager is responsible for ensuring efficient, cost-effective manufacturing operations by overseeing planning, procurement, production scheduling, inventory, and logistics.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Align material availability with production plans to ensure zero downtime
  • Collaborate with production, sales, and central planning teams for demand forecasting and capacity planning
  • Monitor daily and weekly production plans and adjust schedules to meet customer delivery commitments
Procurement & Supplier Coordination:
  • Ensure timely procurement of raw materials, packaging materials, and consumables
  • Coordinate with suppliers to track purchase orders, delivery timelines, and quality compliance
Inventory Management:
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods
  • Monitor stock ageing, non-moving inventory, and initiate timely disposal or consumption plans
Warehousing & Logistics:
  • Oversee inbound and outbound logistics to ensure on-time deliveries
  • Manage warehouse operations, space utilization, and storage safety
Cost & Process Optimization:
  • Identify and implement initiatives to reduce logistics, inventory carrying, and procurement costs
  • Drive process improvements using lean methodologies
Compliance & Safety:
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, EHS norms, and statutory regulations
  • Conduct regular training and audits to uphold safety and operational standards
Team Leadership & Development:
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team
  • Define clear roles, responsibilities, and development plans for the team

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Graduate in Engineering, Science, or Commerce (MBA or PG in Supply Chain preferred) 12-20 years of relevant experience in supply chain or operations management in a manufacturing setup
  • Strong understanding of production planning, MRP, logistics, and warehousing practices
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office tools
