Job Title: iSeries Operations Specialist

The Role

We are seeking an experienced iSeries Operations Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of IBMi systems, ensuring high availability, performance and reliability of critical business applications.

You will work closely with our technical teams to analyze first-level issues across systems, troubleshoot and resolve/route issues as appropriate. You will also have the opportunity to develop support system management processes specific to customer requirements, ensuring that we provide the highest level of service to our customers.

  • Responsible for system monitoring, job scheduling, backups, troubleshooting and user support.
  • Create, manage and monitor scheduled jobs using tools like Robot, Advanced and Native schedulers.
  • Troubleshoot and restart failed jobs, ensuring they complete successfully.
  • Monitor batch process, automate job streams and provide daily operational support.
  • Maintain system and device health for high volume printers, tape drives.
  • Perform and manage backups.
  • Analyse logs and conduct root cause analysis of recurring problems.
  • Develop training materials and provide guidance to junior staff or cross functional teams.
  • Automate routine tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual interventions.
  • Conduct audits and manage compliance with regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of experience in IBMi/AS400 Operations.
  • In-depth knowledge of IBMi (AS/400) systems including system architecture, LPAR (Logical Partitioning) and OS versions.
  • Ready to work in 24/7 rotational shifts.
  • Troubleshooting and technical experience related to IBM i.
  • Expertise in handling transitions.
  • Must be able to run jobs from established run sheets and maintain those run sheets.
  • Knowledge on basic trouble shooting of Mimix, Power HA, iTera.
  • Knowledge of backup and recovery tools.
