Job Title: Database Administration Specialist

This role involves overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of databases to ensure data integrity, security, and performance.

  • Database Design:
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design databases that meet business requirements.
    • Participate in architecture/design reviews to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Database Implementation:
    • Create and maintain databases for labs and production usage.
    • Install and upgrade databases and associated tools.
  • Database Maintenance:
    • Perform capacity planning for database creation and maintenance.
    • Conduct ongoing tuning of database instances in collaboration with development teams.
    • Monitor database systems and ensure health checks are in place.
  • Security and Compliance:
    • Implement and enforce database security standards.
    • Ensure data backup and recovery processes are in place.
    • Set up replication and implement HA/DR configurations.
    Required Skills and Qualifications

The following skills and qualifications are required for this role:

  • Technical Competencies:
    • Strong knowledge of MS SQL, Oracle, Azure SQL, MongoDB.
    • Experience with cloud databases: Snowflake, Amazon RDS, RedShift, Aurora.
    • Proficiency in MS Clustering, Replication, HA, DR implementations.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Proactive in building and managing relationships.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Experience working within cross-functional teams.
  • Education and Experience:
    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
    • 5+ years of experience in Database Administration (MS SQL Server, Oracle).
