Job Title: PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA)

Location: Bangalore

Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled PostgreSQL DBA to design, implement, and maintain our PostgreSQL database systems, ensuring high availability, performance, and security. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with PostgreSQL in production environments, expertise in query optimization, and a proactive approach to troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities

Database Management & Administration

  • Install, configure, and upgrade PostgreSQL databases (versions 12+).
  • Manage database security, user roles, and access controls.
  • Perform backups, recovery, and disaster planning (PITR, WAL archiving).
  • Monitor and optimize database performance (indexing, query tuning, EXPLAIN ANALYZE).

High Availability & Scalability

  • Implement and maintain replication (streaming, logical, or cascading).
  • Configure and troubleshoot Patroni, pgPool, or repmgr for HA/DR.

Performance Tuning

  • Identify and resolve slow queries, deadlocks, and bottlenecks.
  • Optimize PostgreSQL configuration (postgresql.conf, shared_buffers, work_mem).

Troubleshooting & Support

  • Provide 24/7 support for critical production issues.
  • Diagnose and resolve replication lag, connection pooling issues, and vacuum problems.
  • Document RCA (Root Cause Analysis) for outages.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must-Have

  • 3+ years of PostgreSQL administration in production environments.
  • Proficiency in SQL, PL/pgSQL, and query optimization.
  • Experience with backup tools (pgBackRest, Barman, WAL-G).
  • Knowledge of Linux/Unix systems and scripting (Bash, Python).
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios).

Good-to-Have

  • Experience with PostgreSQL extensions (TimescaleDB, Citus).
  • Knowledge of other databases (MySQL, MongoDB, Redis).
  • Cloud certifications (AWS/Azure/GCP).
  • Experience with Terraform or Kubernetes (for DB-as-Code).

Note- Female candidates have flexibility to work in a rotational shift with work from home facility (For evening and night shift)
