DMSII Database Administrator

Key Responsibilities:

  • Installation, configuration, and administration of DMSII databases on Unisys mainframes.
  • Database performance monitoring, space utilization, and availability for optimal data access.
  • Data retrieval and storage optimization through set, subset, and index management.
  • Database backup, journaling, and roll-forward recovery to prevent data loss.
  • Maintenance of data integrity through schema changes and database reorganizations.
  • Troubleshooting performance or access issues with application and system teams.
  • Participation in disaster recovery testing and compliance with backup policies.
  • Implementation and maintenance of security, audit trails, and user access controls.

Requirements:

  • Hands-on experience with Unisys DMSII database administration.
  • Knowledge of DMUTILITY, DMSUPPORT, and database reorganization tools.
  • Understanding of journaling, quiet point backups, and roll-forward recovery procedures.
  • Experience in performance tuning and troubleshooting database issues.
  • Familiarity with COBOL, ALGOL, or other Unisys mainframe application integration.
  • Knowledge of batch jobs, JCL equivalents, and operational support tasks.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of proven experience as a DMSII DBA or Unisys Mainframe DBA.
