Housekeeping Manager Role

  • As a Housekeeping Manager, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of business strategies that are aligned with the hotel's overall mission, vision, values, and strategies.
  • You will develop and implement strategies for housekeeping, monitor their status regularly, and adjust strategies as appropriate.
  • Manage the operation of the housekeeping, public space, and laundry areas; ensure that the rooms and public space areas are spotless and continually restocked and straightened.
  • Develop and implement processes, procedures, and standards for assigned departments to support the achievement of service and financial goals.
  • Prepare annual budgets, monitor budget achievement, and take corrective steps as necessary.
  • Inspect rooms, public space, and back-of-the-house areas continuously.
  • Determine appropriate staffing levels for forecasted business and schedule employees accordingly.
  • Develop and implement processes for providing employees with customer service, technical, and safety training on an ongoing basis.
  • Ensure the health and safety of employees and guests by maintaining the hotel in accordance with statutes and regulations and direct staff accordingly.
  • Oversee inventory, purchasing, disbursement, and cost control for all linens, cleaning supplies, customer room, and restroom supplies, laundry supplies, etc.
  • Manage the operation of (and/or outsourced relationship with) laundry.
  • Monitor assigned departments for compliance with safety standards.
  • Coordinate room availability with the Front Office Manager.
  • Coordinate room maintenance with the Chief Engineer.
  • Develop and implement strategies and practices that support employee engagement.
  • Recruit and select qualified candidates.
  • Provide employees with orientation and training needed to understand expectations and perform job responsibilities.
  • Communicate performance expectations and provide employees with ongoing feedback.
  • Provide employees with coaching and counseling as needed to achieve performance objectives and their fullest potential.
  • Focus on creating 100% guest satisfaction by providing genuine hospitality and exceeding guest expectations through performance that demonstrates the standards of service excellence.
  • Assume responsibility to notice when guests are not satisfied and use best judgment as to when it is appropriate to utilize the 100% Guest Satisfaction standard.
  • Perform other duties required to provide exceptional service brand behavior and genuine hospitality.
  • Adhere to hotel policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a favorable working relationship with all other hotel employees to foster a co-operative and harmonious working environment.
  • At all times project a favorable image of the hotel to the public.
