Principal Engineer, AI Platform

As a Principal Engineer on our AI platform team, you will have the opportunity to architect and build large-scale distributed systems that provide the reliable and scalable foundation for our mission. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and operating the core backend services that form the backbone of our platform.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Architect and Build: Design, develop, and operate the foundational backend services that ensure performance and reliability standards are met.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and mentorship through exemplary code, design documents, and thoughtful code reviews. Drive best practices in system design and raise the bar for the entire team.
  • Founder-level Accountability and Impact: Take ownership of complex technical projects from conception to deployment. Deliver pragmatic, robust solutions with a strong bias for action.
  • Solve Complex Problems: Tackle challenging technical issues in distributed computing, large-scale data processing, and overall system architecture.
Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering with a proven track record of designing and building complex, large-scale distributed systems.
  • Deep expertise in backend development, including system architecture, data modeling, and API design. Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code.
  • A strong bias for action and a pragmatic approach to problem-solving. Passion for the craft and drive to ship high-quality, impactful code.
  • Strong proficiency in at least one backend language (e.g., Python, Go, Java, C++). Experience with or interest in TypeScript is a plus.
  • Experience with modern cloud and data infrastructure is essential (e.g., Google Cloud, Docker/Kubernetes, Postgres), but strong fundamentals above specific tool experience are valued.
