Disaster Recovery Specialist

The primary objective of this role is to ensure the continuity of business operations in the event of a disaster. This involves developing and implementing business recovery plans, conducting risk assessments, and coordinating with various teams to maintain enterprise-level disaster recovery strategies.

  • Main Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement comprehensive business continuity plans, reviewing, revising, and expanding existing protocols as needed.
  • Maintain and implement enterprise-level disaster recovery plans, risk assessments, and application/technical strategies in collaboration with other teams.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments for various departments and functions, analyzing potential business impact of unpredictable events such as natural disasters, security breaches, legal claims, and market disruptions.
  • Align IT organization priorities and plans with key business objectives, identifying areas for improvement and implementing change as necessary.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and implement recovery operations and methods to allow the company to function at limited or partial capacity in the event of infrastructure damage or destruction.
  • Create and facilitate practice drills for plan execution, ensuring all stakeholders are aware of their roles and responsibilities.
  • Develop and track program metrics to demonstrate activities and progress towards disaster recovery goals.
  • Review, configure, and maintain business continuity and crisis management tools, ensuring they meet established best practices and community standards.
  • Coordinate with health, safety, and security staff, as well as local, state, and federal agencies, to align emergency management plans with community standards.
  • Support the response coordination and communications during a business disruption, working closely with cross-functional teams to restore normal operations as quickly as possible.
