Job Description

Migrating legacy code to a modern cloud-native architecture is a complex and challenging task that requires great skill, experience, and attention to detail.

As an offshore consultant, you will be responsible for deconstructing legacy code, understanding its business logic, and leading its migration to a new Java stack.

Our team is seeking a highly skilled and self-motivated engineer who can work independently and as part of a distributed team to achieve this goal.

The ideal candidate should have expert-level proficiency in Java and the Spring Boot framework, as well as hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services such as Pub/Sub, Cloud Functions, Spanner, and/or Firestore.

They should also have a deep understanding of microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and event-driven design patterns, as well as proven experience working with message brokers and event streaming platforms.

  • Design & Develop: Architect, build, and maintain high-performance, scalable Java Spring Boot microservices.
  • Legacy Code Migration: Analyze existing code, understand its business logic, and lead its migration to the new Java stack.
  • Event-Driven Architecture: Decommission our legacy message broker and implement a modern event-driven system using cloud-native technologies.
  • Cloud-Native Solutions: Build and deploy services using Google Cloud Platform (GCP) technologies.
  • Code Quality & Deployment: Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code. Own the entire development lifecycle.
  • System Analysis: Go beyond the user story to develop a deep understanding of the entire system, identifying dependencies, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
Required Skills and Qualifications

5+ years of experience in backend software development with a strong emphasis on enterprise-level systems.

Expert-level proficiency in Java and the Spring Boot framework.

Professional experience with .NET (C#), with a demonstrated ability to read, understand, and reverse-engineer legacy codebases.

Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), specifically with services like Pub/Sub, Cloud Functions, Spanner, and/or Firestore.

Deep understanding of microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and event-driven design patterns.

Proven experience working with message brokers and event streaming platforms.

Strong understanding of relational and NoSQL databases.
