Purpose:

The primary goal of this position is to provide expert programming support across various projects, clients, and therapeutic areas within the statistics and programming department.

Key Responsibilities:

This role involves manipulating large databases and generating reports to facilitate analysts' exploration of real-world healthcare data assets. To excel in this position, you must have exceptional SAS and SQL programming skills, along with the ability to implement complex logic. It is essential to be comfortable creating complex analysis datasets derived from diverse data sources while maintaining a keen eye for outliers and errors. Previous experience in building patient cohorts and evaluating patient healthcare events in large databases using observational research methods such as epidemiology and statistical methods is strongly desired.

  • SAS proficiency is acceptable, while R programming is preferred.
  • We are open to any therapeutic area experience, but expertise in rare diseases will be an added advantage.
  • Real-world healthcare claims database experience is mandatory. Equivalent EU database experience to US Market scan/Optum is also acceptable.
  • OMOP-Common Data Model experience is highly desirable. Even basic familiarity with this model is beneficial.
  • SQL expertise, particularly querying and extracting from databases, is crucial.
  • Strong communication, time management, enthusiasm, and documentation skills are vital for success in this position.

Technical Requirements:

Proficiency in R and SQL programming is necessary - Expertise in Oncology databases such as Flatiron, COTA - A good understanding of Oncology-specific analyses such as Line of Therapy algorithms, Survival analysis, different statistical models - Experience with Analytic Datasets, patient cohorts is advantageous.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Statistics, Mathematics, or other subject with high statistical content
  • A minimum of 7-8 years of SAS statistical programming experience
  • Database programming using SQL
  • Experience with advanced statistical methods such as survival and regression
  • Experience with real-world healthcare claims and EHR data such as MarketScan, Optum, and Medicare databases

Additional Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Computer Science, or other subject with high statistical content
  • Training or experience using the OMOP Common Data Model
  • Training or experience with Python, R, Databricks, or other cloud-based software
  • Pharmaceutical industry experience
  • Training or experience in epidemiological methods
