Job Overview

As a seasoned General Surgeon, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality surgical care to patients with a wide range of conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Surgical Care
    • Perform general surgical procedures such as appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hernia repair, and GI surgeries.
    • Breast and thyroid surgeries, hemorrhoidectomy, fistulectomy, and other anorectal procedures.
    • Trauma and emergency abdominal surgeries, utilizing laparoscopic/minimally invasive techniques where applicable.
    • Ensure aseptic techniques and compliance with operating room protocols.
    • Supervise surgical residents and operating room staff during procedures.
  • Pre-Operative & Post-Operative Management
    • Conduct thorough patient assessments and obtain informed consent.
    • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, imaging, and labs.
    • Develop individualized surgical plans with risk stratification.
    • Manage pain control, wound care, and complication prevention post-surgery.
    • Coordinate with intensive care unit, anesthesiology, and other specialties for perioperative care.
  • Emergency Services
    • Respond promptly to trauma and acute abdominal cases in the emergency department.
    • Perform life-saving interventions, such as exploratory laparotomy and control of hemorrhage.
    • Be available for on-call duties as per rotation schedule.
    Qualifications

Essential:

  • MBBS + MS/DNB in General Surgery.
  • Valid registration with State or National Medical Council.

Desirable:

  • Fellowship in Laparoscopic Surgery, Colorectal Surgery, Breast Surgery, etc.
  • Experience in trauma or emergency surgery.
  • Teaching experience (for academic institutions).
Skills & Competencies
  • Proficiency in open and laparoscopic surgical techniques.
  • Strong clinical judgment and decision-making under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and patient counseling skills.
  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Teaching and mentorship abilities (if applicable).
  • Attention to detail and safety in operative care.
