Electrical Powertrain Specialist

This role is focused on executing the activities necessary to ensure validated release and sign-off of dedicated vehicle components and sub-systems. The specialist will coordinate with various departments to ensure proper representation and input from all relevant areas.

The responsibilities include:

  • Packaging of high-voltage cables, busbars, and their layouts along with plastic carriers required for HV and LV battery packs.
  • Updating harness routing and busbar based on repackaging of interface components in coordination with system integration engineering teams.
  • Understanding energy storage system (battery) sizing for targeted vehicle performance.
  • Collaborating with systems engineers to implement design changes during program development, prototype, and production build phases according to project timelines.
  • Carrying out stack-up analysis on designed components.
  • Developing harness/busbar/cell packaging, listing issues, and driving resolution prior to validation builds.
  • Creating test cases, design rules, or requirements as needed.
  • Benchmarking and concept development.
  • Working on QAF, RFQ, and support plans with suppliers/buyers and VFM teams.
  • Creating and managing DFMEA, PFMEA, BOD, and BOP.
  • Complying with grade/EMC/safety compliance.
  • Designing and developing interface plastics/sheet metal components required in battery enclosures.
  • Supporting part development at suppliers or internally.
  • Supporting part testing at suppliers or internally as per DV or PV.
  • Participating in supplier PPAP activities and periodic audits to improve quality and process improvements.
  • Supporting builds and creating supply plans for M1/VB and production cars.
