Technical Manager - High Voltage Cables

This role involves working with a global client on a full-time basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Reviews: Performing technical reviews of sourcing requests from internal customers to ensure alignment with project requirements.
  • Cable Design: Designing high-voltage cables for various applications, considering factors such as electrical conductivity and durability.
  • Sourcing Support: Providing support to internal customers to optimize their sourcing requests based on supplier capabilities.
  • Cable Inquiries: Reviewing cable inquiries from customers and converting them into cable sourcing requests.
  • Supplier Collaboration: Collaborating with suppliers to clarify technical specifications and resolve any issues.
  • Cable Calculations: Conducting short-circuit calculations using Excel to determine wire screen/metal sheath size and ampacity calculations using CYMCAP to verify conductor sizes.
  • Drum Length Calculations: Conducting drum length calculations using Excel to ensure accurate supply chain management.
  • Quality Control: Checking and accepting technical data sheets from suppliers and recording prequalification and type test coverage of cables offered by suppliers.
  • Contract Preparation: Preparing the technical part of contracts and reviewing Quality Records from suppliers.
  • Test Witnessing: Witnessing in-process, routine, and sample tests to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Type Tests: Preparing type tests to evaluate the performance of high-voltage cables.
  • Process Improvement: Identifying and driving improvements in the cable design and procurement process.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience: At least 4 years of experience in EHV or HV cable design, preferably with an engineering degree in the electrical field.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of electrical conductivity, durability, and other relevant factors in cable design.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with internal customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
