We are looking for a seasoned Senior Backend Engineer to join our team and take ownership of backend delivery in a TypeScript/AWS environment.
The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in financial services, strong TypeScript/Node.js skills, and hands-on experience with AWS Lambda and serverless patterns. Additionally, they will have a solid understanding of building secure, documented REST APIs and be able to work independently and communicate clearly.
About the Role- Backend Services: The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and maintaining PostgreSQL schemas, migrations, and queries, as well as integrating with third-party APIs securely using OAuth2 and JWT.
- Financial Workflows: They will be working on financial workflows such as KYC, servicing, and withdrawals, building APIs and systems that handle real money with reliability and auditability.
- Performance and Reliability: The engineer will need to improve existing systems for performance, reliability, and audit requirements, ensuring seamless integration with other teams.
- Experience: 5+ years of backend engineering experience, ideally in financial services.
- Skills: Strong TypeScript/Node.js skills, productive from day one, hands-on with AWS Lambda and serverless patterns, PostgreSQL experience, schema design, performance tuning, and real-world queries.
- Communication: Able to work independently and communicate clearly, with a solid understanding of building secure, documented REST APIs.
- Product in Production: We have a real-world product in production, giving you the opportunity to work on a live project.
- Ownership: You will have ownership over your work with the freedom to execute and make decisions.
- Remote Setup: We offer a remote setup (working GMT +3 hours) with tight alignment with an ambitious core team.
- Regulated Systems: Experience with regulated systems, such as KYC, audit logs, and compliance.
- AWS Cognito: Familiarity with AWS Cognito and broader infrastructure exposure.
- Terraform/IaC: Understanding of Terraform/IaC concepts.
- Polyglot Environments: Familiarity with polyglot environments, as Kotlin may be introduced down the line.
This is a full-time contract role focused on core features, transactions, and secure APIs all powering a product built for real customers and regulatory scrutiny.
