About this role

We are seeking a highly skilled database architect to own the performance, availability, and security of our growing fleet of databases.

This individual will play a key role in designing scalable data architectures, ensuring high availability, and supporting development teams with optimized queries and resilient data pipelines.

  • Database Administration & Operations

Maintain, monitor, and tune production and staging MSSQL and PostgreSQL databases to ensure uptime and performance SLAs are met across cloud and hybrid environments.

  • AWS Cloud Expertise

Administer RDS, Aurora, and EC2-hosted database instances, monitoring database performance using CloudWatch, Performance Insights, and third-party tools.

  • Data Architecture & Design

Work with engineering teams to model new schemas, optimize indexes, and review queries, implementing and enforcing best practices in database normalization, partitioning, and data lifecycle management.

  • Security & Compliance

Ensure data encryption, access controls, and audit logging are in place and compliant with company policies, supporting GDPR/SOC 2/ISO 27001 initiatives with appropriate database controls and evidence collection.

  • Collaboration & Mentoring

Provide database guidance to developers and DevOps teams during code reviews and deployments, sharing knowledge, mentoring junior DBAs, and improving documentation and internal tooling.
