Job Title: Lead Database Administrator

Description:

We seek a highly experienced and skilled Lead Database Administrator to join our organization. As a key member of our database administration team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining high-performance PostgreSQL databases that meet the evolving needs of our business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement PostgreSQL databases with optimal performance, scalability, and security features.
  • Develop and maintain robust monitoring and alerting systems to ensure prompt detection and resolution of database issues.
  • Maintain strong expertise in PostgreSQL internals, architecture, and tuning to ensure maximum database performance.
  • Implement and manage HA and replication solutions (Patroni, repmgr) to ensure high availability and data integrity.
  • Develop and execute plans for major upgrades (pg_upgrade, logical replication), cross-version and cross-platform migrations (on-prem cloud), ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity.
  • Maintain strong hands-on experience with AWS PostgreSQL services like RDS and Aurora, including parameter groups, snapshot management, performance insights, and multi-AZ failover.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement database-driven solutions that meet business requirements.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of hands-on PostgreSQL DBA experience in production environments.
  • Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL internals, architecture, and tuning.
  • Strong expertise with HA and replication solutions (Patroni, repmgr).
  • Hands-on experience with PITR, disaster recovery, and cluster rebuilds.
  • Proficiency in Linux/Unix environments, shell scripting, and automation.
  • Solid understanding of database security and compliance best practices.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and experience handling critical incidents.
