Job Description

We are seeking a seasoned professional to lead our organization's data protection efforts. The Compliance Officer will be responsible for ensuring the effective implementation of our Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) compliance framework.

This role involves overseeing the end-to-end planning, execution, and delivery of our compliance program in alignment with Bermuda equivalent data protection regulations.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience managing regulatory or compliance-driven projects, preferably in the financial services sector.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Conducting comprehensive assessments of current data privacy policies, systems, and processes to identify gaps against PIPA requirements.
  2. Working with Legal, Risk, IT Security, Compliance, and Business Units to define and implement appropriate controls for data collection, storage, access, and sharing.
  3. Establishing governance structures, reporting mechanisms, and escalation paths to ensure compliance tracking and accountability.
  4. Managing vendor relationships and third-party assessments related to data processing and privacy.
  5. Designing and facilitating training and awareness programs for staff on data protection principles and responsibilities under PIPA.
Requirements
  1. Proven experience in data privacy regulations (PIPA, GDPR, or similar).
  2. Strong stakeholder management, communication, and documentation skills.
  3. Ability to translate legal and regulatory requirements into actionable business processes.
  4. In-depth understanding of change management and business process re-engineering is an advantage.
