Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) Project Manager

A leading IT organization is seeking a seasoned Project Manager to spearhead the implementation of Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) compliance across their banking client's operations in Bermuda.

The ideal candidate will possess strong stakeholder management, communication, and documentation skills, with a proven track record of managing regulatory-driven projects, preferably in the financial services sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and execute a comprehensive plan for PIPA compliance, encompassing all business units within the organization.
  2. Conduct a thorough assessment of current data privacy policies, systems, and processes to identify gaps against PIPA requirements.
  3. Collaborate with Legal, Risk, IT Security, Compliance, and Business Units to define and implement appropriate controls for data collection, storage, access, and sharing.
  4. Establish governance structures, reporting mechanisms, and escalation paths to ensure compliance tracking and accountability.
  5. Manage vendor relationships and third-party assessments related to data processing and privacy.
  6. Design and facilitate training and awareness programs for staff on data protection principles and responsibilities under PIPA.
  7. Prepare project plans, status reports, risk registers, and ensure timely delivery within scope.
  8. Serve as the primary liaison between internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies regarding PIPA-related matters.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience managing regulatory or compliance-driven projects.
  • In-depth understanding of data privacy regulations (PIPA, GDPR, or similar).
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to translate legal and regulatory requirements into actionable business processes.
  • Experience with change management and business process re-engineering is an advantage.
