About the Position:

We are seeking a skilled VMware Cloud Foundation engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the daily operation and reliability of the VCF stack, focusing on vSphere, vSAN, vRealize Operations, and NSX.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve incidents; drive problem management and root cause analysis.
  • Perform routine health checks and maintenance across vSphere, vSAN, NSX, and vROps.

vSphere Administration:

  • Clusters, resource pools, DRS/HA, vMotion/storage vMotion, templates, VM lifecycle.

vSAN Operations:

  • Storage policies, capacity planning, resync monitoring, performance troubleshooting.

NSX (NSXT) Management:

  • Segments/overlays, T0/T1 gateways, distributed firewall rules, NAT, basic load balancing concepts.

vROps / Aria Operations:

  • Dashboards, alert tuning, capacity/performance analytics, reporting.

Security and Compliance:

  • Implement and validate basic firewall rules and segmentation policy in NSX according to industry standards.
  • Maintain customer change control, audit, and security practices.

Stakeholder Engagement and Knowledge Transfer:

  • Provide regular updates, capacity/performance reports, and knowledge base documentation.
  • Conduct thorough knowledge transfer to customer operations teams.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Extensive hands-on experience with vSphere administration in production (cluster design, HA/DRS, VM lifecycle, patching/updating).
  • Practical vSAN operations experience (policy-based management, health/performance troubleshooting).
  • Working knowledge of NSXT for day 2 operations: overlay/segments, basic routing concepts, distributed firewall rule creation/validation, NAT.
  • Experience with vROps/Aria Operations for monitoring, alerting, capacity planning, and reporting.
  • Strong understanding of data center networking fundamentals and storage basics.
  • Familiarity with ITIL-aligned change/incident processes and writing/runbook documentation.

Bonus Skills:

  • Exposure to SDDC Manager/VCF LCM, NSX load balancing, microsegmentation design.
  • Knowledge of SRM, HCX, Aria Automation/Orchestrator (vRO).
  • Scripting/automation skills (PowerCLI/PowerShell, Python).
  • Experience with enterprise backup/DR tooling and integrations.
  • Hardware/platform familiarity and firmware/driver best practices.

Experience and Education:

  • A minimum of 4-7 years of total experience in VMware virtualization and software-defined data center operations.
  • At least 2+ years of hands-on experience with vSphere and vSAN; 1-2 years with NSXT day 2 operations.
  • Prior experience operating vROps/Aria Operations in production.
  • Certifications (preferred): VCP-DCV (required or in progress), VCP-NV (plus), VCAP (plus).
  • A degree in Computer Science/IT or equivalent practical experience.
