Business Analyst Job Description

We are seeking a skilled professional to join our data team as a Business Analyst.

This role involves managing our master data set, developing reports, and troubleshooting data issues. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and experience working with large data sets.

Responsibilities:

  • Master Data Management: Oversee the creation, updates, and deletion of master data.
  • User Management: Manage user access and roles within the system.
  • Data Quality Assurance: Ensure high-quality imported data through collaboration with quality assurance analysts.
  • Data Set Lifecycle: Comply with guidelines for commissioning and decommissioning data sets.
  • Confidential Data Handling: Process confidential information in accordance with established standards.
  • Reporting Development: Assist in creating reports and analyses.
  • Reporting Environment: Design and manage the reporting environment, including data sources, security, and metadata.
  • Data Warehouse Support: Provide support to the data warehouse by identifying and revising reporting requirements.
  • Data Integrity: Contribute to initiatives focused on data integrity and normalization.
  • Test Assessment and Implementation: Assess tests and implement new or upgraded software, informing strategic decisions on new systems.
  • Report Generation: Generate reports from single or multiple systems.
  • Reporting Database Environment: Troubleshoot the reporting database environment and reports.
  • Source System Evaluation: Evaluate changes and updates to source production systems.
  • User Training: Train end-users on new reports and dashboards.
  • Technical Expertise: Offer technical expertise in data storage structures, data mining, and data cleansing.

Requirements:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in computer science or a related field.
  • Work Experience: Relevant work experience as a Business Analyst or in a related field.
  • Risk Assessment: Ability to collaborate with stakeholders to assess potential risks.
  • Tool and Database Analysis: Ability to analyze existing tools and databases and provide recommendations for software solutions.
  • Business Requirements Translation: Skill to translate business requirements into non-technical terms.
  • Methodologies and Processes: Familiarity with methodologies and processes for managing large-scale databases.
  • Large Data Sets Handling: Proven experience handling large data sets and relational databases.
  • Metadata Standards: Understanding of addressing and metadata standards.
  • Communication Skills: High-level written and verbal communication skills.
