About the Role

The AV Service Engineer installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs audio-visual systems and equipment. This role requires technical expertise in AV hardware and software, as well as the ability to diagnose and resolve issues quickly.

The engineer ensures that all AV systems function optimally and works closely with clients, internal teams, and vendors to provide excellent service and technical support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and commission AV equipment, including audio systems, video systems, projection systems, video conferencing solutions, and control systems.
  • Perform system tests to ensure proper functionality and calibrate equipment to client specifications.
  • Assist with integrating AV systems into existing client infrastructure or networks.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot AV systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Provide on-site and remote support for ongoing technical issues.
  • Replace or repair defective parts or equipment as necessary.
  • Act as the primary technical point of contact for clients, providing high-quality support during installations, system maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Document all service activities to ensure clear records for future reference.
  • Provide recommendations for system upgrades and improvements based on evolving technology and client needs.
  • Manage inventory of AV parts and equipment required for service calls.
  • Work closely with project managers, designers, and clients to ensure that AV system installations meet technical requirements and project specifications.

Requirements

  • A degree or certification in audio-visual technology, electrical engineering, IT, or a related field is preferred.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in the AV industry, including installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of AV systems.
  • Strong understanding of AV systems, including audio, video, control systems, video conferencing equipment, and integration with other technologies.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues with AV systems.
  • Excellent communication skills to explain technical issues to non-technical clients.

Working Conditions

  • This role involves on-site and fieldwork, with travel to customer locations for installations, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Flexible working hours, including evenings or weekends, depending on client needs and project schedules.
  • Physical demands may include lifting and carrying AV equipment, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces.
