Job Title:

Head IP - Risk and Protection

Educational Qualifications:

  • We seek a graduate or postgraduate degree holder in Mechanical, Electronics, Automotive, or Material Science.
  • A WON certificate and WIPO DL101, DFSS, or Qualified Patent Agent Exam qualification will be advantageous.

Experience:

  • At least 18 years of experience in the field is required.

Purpose of the Role:

  1. Identify potential areas for intellectual property legal risk in NPD designs and plan mitigation strategies.
  2. Develop search strategies and conduct analysis for Freedom to Operate (FTO), State of Art (SOA), invalidation, opposition, and litigation.
  3. Perform advanced technology and competitive intelligence analysis, including design IP protection across business clusters.

Role Description:

  1. Drive IP culture by reviewing designs and initiating actions to de-risk designs and products.
  2. Conduct patent and competitor portfolio analysis using tools like IT and data analytics.
  3. Work closely with IP attorneys and legal associates to provide timely FTO opinion reports.
  4. Plan and conduct Bill of Materials (BOM) FTO reviews for New Product Development (NPD) at the product level.
  5. Release periodic IP alerts and manage projects independently.
  6. Conduct FTO, state-of-art search analysis, and trigger timely protection of all forms of IP across major global jurisdictions.
  7. Maintain industry best practices, use state-of-art tools for IP searches, and perform searches across multiple jurisdictions.
  8. Review and resolve claim interpretation issues in FTO with stakeholders.

Qualification:

  • IP Law qualification is essential. A WON certificate will be an advantage.
