Vessel Navigation Systems Specialist

Job Summary:

This role involves overseeing the maintenance and repair of navigation systems on vessels. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, performing continuous performance improvement, and managing vessel repairs within budget.

  • Key Responsibilities include:
  • Complying with International Maritime Regulations and Quality, Health, Safety, Environmental and Ethics Policies.
  • Ensuring continuous performance improvement and monitoring navigation integrated systems surveys and maintenance.
  • Managing vessel repairs within time and budget by sourcing best solutions with key partners.
  • Supporting vessel compliance with flag and class requirements related to navigation integrated systems.
  • Maintaining up-to-date databases of radio and navigation systems onboard and evaluating partners and key vendors.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring or organizing plan surveys/health check/maintenance of navigation integrated systems.
  • Providing support to vessels and shore teams including risk assessment for new situations or planned interventions.

Budgeting and Planning:

  • Preparing annual budgets for assigned vessels in consultation with experts/superintendents/vessel managers.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Fluent in English.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.
  • Project management skills, competencies in various software programs.
  • Troubleshooting, initiative, flair to solve issues, and curiosity for new technologies.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronics and Telecommunications.
  • 3 years' experience in support of vessels preferred.
