Procurement and Strategic Sourcing Leader

The position of Procurement and Strategic Sourcing Leader is a key role within the organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the procurement and strategic sourcing function, formulating and driving strategies that align with the company's business goals.

This role involves optimizing sourcing, supplier management, and procurement processes to enhance operational efficiency, manage costs, and mitigate risks in the supply chain.

The incumbent will set up local sourcing expertise at multiple locations in Africa as part of expanding the global manufacturing footprint.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the global team for procurement/sourcing of APIs, RM, PM & Capital Goods.
  • Lead the team for all Contract manufacturing for Third Party procurement Finished Goods, across India, China & countries across the African Continent.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to localise & transition supply sources, with a view to optimising the value chain for greater efficiency, resilience & cost-effectiveness.
  • Anchoring the Alternate Vendor Development efforts, developing, negotiating, and managing global contracts with suppliers with sound contracting structures and terms.
  • Evaluating demand patterns and developing a procurement roadmap that speaks to the short-term requirements as well as long-term Strategies.

Contribute to preparation of long-term plans, annual operating plans, providing inputs from a sourcing/procurement perspective.

Essential Qualifications, Experience and Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Life Sciences or relevant disciplines in Humanities; MBA desirable.
  • Experience in the African Markets is an added advantage.
  • 15+ years strategic procurement experience with extensive knowledge of category management and advanced sourcing, vendor management and complex contract negotiations expertise.
  • Experience leading multiple categories and sourcing teams within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Excellent consulting skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Strong personal credibility and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusted relationships with senior business leaders and teams alike.
  • Experience working cross-culturally with diverse colleagues.
  • Strong analytical skill set required to drive problem-solving and innovative solutions.
