At Canonical, we're pushing the boundaries of cloud computing with innovative virtualization and container technology.

We're seeking an exceptional engineer to join our team and work on next-generation open source VMM or container technology. This is a great opportunity to collaborate with world-class experts and make a meaningful impact in the field.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software engineering, particularly in areas such as performance, security, and operability. Experience with Go, Rust, C/C++, or Python is highly valued.

As a member of our team, you'll be responsible for designing and specifying new features, engaging with upstream communities, conducting security analysis and reviews, creating and monitoring performance benchmarks, collaborating with distributed teams, writing high-quality code, debugging issues, and reviewing code produced by other engineers.

To succeed in this role, you'll need to possess excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability. A passion for thoughtfulness, self-motivation, and excellent communication and presentation skills are essential.

What We Are Looking For In You
  • Exceptional academic track record from both high school and university
  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or STEM, or compelling narrative about alternative path
  • Drive and track record of going above-and-beyond expectations
  • Experience working on open source virt or container tech
  • Experience working in kernel or very low level system
  • Professional written and spoken English
  • Experience with Linux (Debian or Ubuntu preferred)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Curiosity, flexibility, and accountability
