Role Overview

The Strategic Product Leader will be responsible for driving the end-to-end mission, strategy, and tactical execution of the squad. This role requires a blend of investment management and technical expertise, with a passion for delivering results. The leader will partner with other Fidelity leaders to influence strategic decisions, roadmaps, and resource requirements, and will be responsible for setting and refining the squad's mission.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define, refine, and communicate the squad's mission and roadmap to motivate and establish team and partner support and alignment.
  • Contribute to the Product Roadmap by bringing full transparency around product capabilities being built and influencing identification of new capabilities.
  • Anticipate, discover, and prioritize client/partner needs to serve as their voice and guide execution of the team.
  • Define, evaluate, and communicate results against acceptance criteria.
  • Inspect and evaluate progress, and remove impediments.
  • Measure performance against established objectives that deliver on agreed-upon business, technology, and people results.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with Chapter Leaders and Scrum Masters to build squad capacity and capability, and enable squad member growth, development, and learning.
  • Make informed trade-off decisions to strike the right balance between quality, cost, and timelines.
  • Contribute to ideation.

Team Collaboration

The Strategic Product Leader will work in partnership with the Fixed Income Investments product area leader, other Squad Leaders, Scrum Master, and Chapter Leaders aligned to the squad. By demonstrating and promoting Fidelity and agile leadership behaviors, the leader will sustain and evolve our innovative agile culture.

Required Skills

  • Strong expertise in the Fixed Income domain is a must to deliver best business outcomes through a complex set of applications and business processes.
  • Take a data-focused approach to understanding customer needs, translate strategic objectives into action, and prioritize to improve value delivered.
  • Grasp sophisticated product features and break them into clear and concise stories with well-defined business value and acceptance criteria, and optimally communicate these.
  • Capable of leading, influencing, and motivating colleagues without formal authority, and have a track record of building high-performing teams.
  • Continuously improve and encourage an agile way of working.
  • Establish and maintain unquestioning relationships as you work multi-functionally across Fidelity to deliver business outcomes and seek out the expertise of colleagues to advise on your approach.
  • Intellectually curious and model a culture of continuous learning, mentoring, and coaching.
  • Committed to developing a balance of technology and non-technology skills to fully appreciate the broad needs of our customers.
  • Proven experience with minimum viable product definition and product backlog management.
  • Adept at detecting scope changes and raising issues.
