Urban Mobility Specialist Position

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Urban Mobility Specialist to join our team. This role will be responsible for implementing road safety, green mobility, and low emission zones in Indian cities.

The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in environmental science, urban planning, or design and relevant experience working on urban spatial and/or environmental issues. Strong research, data analysis, and communication skills are essential for this position.

  1. Develop and operationalize a Low Emission Zone framework tailored for Mathura city.
  2. Conduct baseline assessments of vehicular and industrial emissions in the city.
  3. Identify vehicle categories, emission thresholds, and compliance strategies for the LEZ.
  4. Propose monitoring mechanisms, including the use of Vahan data, ANPR, and on-ground enforcement.
  5. Assess and recommend sustainable mobility solutions, such as EV adoption pathways, public transport electrification, NMT integration, and multimodal connectivity.
Responsibilities:
  • Design Analysis and Project Development: Understand site-specific urban challenges and create viable design strategies and proposals.
  • Tactical Urbanism: Implement temporary design changes to test improvements and gather feedback.
  • Training and Development: Conduct internal and external workshops to raise awareness and build capacity on street design and road safety principles.
  • Reporting and Communication: Prepare regular progress reports summarizing program activities and achievements.
  • Community Engagement and Outreach: Assist in organizing Raahgiri Days and public awareness campaigns promoting street design for improved sustainability, safety, and community interaction.
Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in environmental science, urban planning, or design and/or allied disciplines.
  • Proven experience working on urban spatial and/or environmental issues, preferably in air pollution control, EV policy integration, and urban design.
  • Excellent research, data analysis, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and data analysis tools.
  • Hindi and English fluency is a must.
Desirable Skills:
  • Experience working on green mobility, LEZ projects, or similar in India or abroad.
  • Knowledge of government policies and regulations related to urban design, air quality, and transportation.
