Senior Operations Manager - Maintenance

 

About the Role

This is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing maintenance operations. The Senior Operations Manager - Maintenance will be accountable for developing and implementing a comprehensive maintenance strategy that aligns with the organization's overall objectives.

 

Main Responsibilities
  • Maintenance Strategy & Planning
  • Contribute to the development of a maintenance vision, strategy, policies, and procedures to improve operational performance
  • Support new business initiatives and assess their impact on maintenance activities
  • Develop and implement a Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedule
  • Ensure all missed or pending maintenance activities are effectively planned and executed

 

Operations & Equipment Management
  • Task Allocation & Project Management
  • Delegate maintenance tasks and projects effectively within the team based on skill sets
  • Schedule internal and external maintenance work, aiming to maximize planned downtime and minimize unplanned outages
  • Proactively manage dysfunctional machinery to ensure machine availability
  • Optimize equipment performance to achieve key operational KPIs
  • Oversee calibration and maintenance of electro-mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems

 

Systems, Compliance & Reporting
  • Audit & Compliance
  • Audit and maintain compliance with engineering data systems
  • Manage equipment and systems data storage, ensuring accuracy and standardization
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are in compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
  • Prepare reports and deliver presentations on maintenance activities, KPIs, and system audits
  • Conduct risk assessments of departmental processes and manage contractor compliance on-site

 

Cost Control & Resource Management
  • Financial Accountability
  • Develop accountability for maintenance material spending and control operational expenditure
  • Identify required technical skill sets and resources for successful project execution, including coordination with external contractors

 

People Management & Development
  • Team Leadership & Coaching
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing maintenance team to meet performance goals
  • Set departmental KPIs and assess team and individual performance
  • Foster collaboration with key stakeholders to ensure maintenance strategy compliance
