Mainframe Application Developer Position

We are seeking a skilled professional to fill the role of Mainframe Application Developer.

About the Job:

This is a challenging opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced individual who can design, develop, and maintain mainframe applications. The ideal candidate will have 4-10 years of experience in this field and possess excellent technical skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Development: Design, code, test, and debug mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, CICS, and DB2.
  • Maintenance and Enhancement: Maintain and enhance existing mainframe applications to meet evolving business needs.
  • Analysis and Solution Implementation: Analyze business requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct impact analysis, code reviews, and unit testing to ensure high-quality software.
  • Integration and Support: Participate in system integration and user acceptance testing, and provide support for production issues.
  • Documentation: Document technical designs and operational procedures comprehensively.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, QA, and infrastructure teams.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Professional Experience: Professional experience in Mainframe COBOL and IBM z/OS tools.
  • Code Analysis and Documentation: Ability to analyze existing application code and create working flow documentation.
  • Technical Testing: Ability to establish a technical test book.
  • Data Management: Ability to understand and take ownership of a DB2 data model.

Technical Skills:

  • Mandatory Skills: Mainframe DB2 - Application Development, COBOL, JCL, and CICS.
  • Nice to Have Skills: IDMS, VSAM, MVS/TSO, Endeavor (or any source repository tool), and IDEM tool.

Education and Experience:

  • Education: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of 4-10 years of professional experience in mainframe application development.
