Engineering Director Position

The ideal candidate will lead our engineering team in delivering large-scale steel plant projects, prioritizing project execution, technical excellence, safety, and cost control. They must possess a deep understanding of engineering principles, leadership skills, and experience in managing complex projects.

  • Develop and implement the overall engineering strategy for steel plant projects.
  • Lead conceptual design, feasibility studies, and detailed engineering phases, ensuring seamless integration across all disciplines.
  • Oversee EPC contractors, consultants, and vendors, verifying compliance with relevant codes and standards.
  • Implement quality control procedures, drive value engineering initiatives to optimize design, and reduce costs.
  • Manage engineering schedules and budgets, coordinate with procurement, construction, and operations teams.
  • Resolve technical issues and challenges, leading discussions and negotiations.
  • Ensure effective document control and management of engineering data.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering field (Metallurgical, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering preferred). A master's degree in engineering or business administration is beneficial.
  • Minimum 20-25 years of progressive experience in engineering roles within heavy industrial projects.
  • At least 5-10 years in a leadership/head of engineering capacity for steel plant projects.
  • 10–15 years in steel plant project (greenfield or brownfield) with demonstrated experience in the full lifecycle of greenfield or significant brownfield steel plant projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of various steelmaking and associated auxiliary systems.
  • Proven experience in managing large, multi-disciplinary engineering teams and external consultants.
  • Strong understanding of project management principles, experience with relevant engineering software and tools.
