Senior Economist Job Opportunity

The role of a senior economist involves in-depth research and analysis, focusing on markets across various indicators.

This includes building econometric models to forecast future trends and risks, analyzing data to identify economic trends and themes, and monitoring global developments and their potential impact on markets.

In addition, successful candidates will work closely with strategists and interact regularly with the team, contributing to regular periodical research with an investment firm.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Econometric Modeling: Develop and maintain econometric models to forecast trends and risks.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze macroeconomic data (history and forecasts) to identify trends and themes.
  • Market Research: Monitor and assess global developments and their potential impact on markets.
  • Research Commentary: Write and publish commentary to accompany data analysis and discuss market drivers.
  • Project Work: Work on projects relevant to the Indian market, conducting secondary research as needed.
  • Ad Hoc Requests: Handle ad hoc requests from the team.

Requirements:

  • Masters in Economics or MBA degree.
  • 2-4 years of post-qualification experience as an Economic Analyst or Macro Strategist.
  • Strong interest in global financial markets and knowledge of recent developments.
  • Quantitative skills, with experience working with large datasets.
  • Advanced Excel analytical skills and knowledge of econometrics.
  • Working knowledge of Python or R is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to write research reports and comment on market developments.
  • Knowledge of database tools such as Macrobond, CEIC, World Bank, CME, and central bank/statistical websites.
  • Prior experience in macro research or equity research in Indian markets is a plus.
  • Ability to deliver accurate work under tight deadlines, manage multiple projects without support/supervision, and handle fast-moving developments.
