Technical Services Software Engineer

This position is part of the technical services team and requires a software engineer with strong technical skills, project management capabilities, and experience in email marketing platforms.

The ideal candidate will bridge the back-end data model to the front-end campaign, providing consistent and focused but flexible campaign partnership to project managers and other cross-functional teams by demonstrating strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and technical troubleshooting skills.

1. Expertise in multiple industry-standard email marketing platforms and ability to provide advanced understanding of all aspects of these platforms.
2. Designs and develops mobile-responsive cross-channel marketing campaigns and templates from simple to complex using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other technologies.
3. Full understanding to provide proactive input on solution specification documents, data import workbooks, and business requirement documentation from cross-functional teams.
4. Maintenance of the campaign workbook including timelines, deliverables, and auditing for new client implementations.
5. Proficient understanding of data modeling, relational database theory, dynamic blocks, advanced dynamic content, and filters and table joins.
6. Manages setup/testing/debugging efforts for instant triggers and their corresponding XML API protocols.
7. Requires solid Python fundamentals and an understanding of workflow orchestration (tasks, dependencies, scheduling).
8. Responsible for complex data audience builds for new and existing programs.
9. Advanced knowledge of database set-ups and how to import, export, and extract reporting from the platforms.
10. Responsible for creating highly dynamic messaging blocks and tags for campaigns (e.g., looping dynamic content in loader sheets).
11. Skilled at automated set-ups such as APIs and triggered functions.
12. Expert-level ability in walking through/training/troubleshooting/leading QA for others on complex campaigns.
13. Assigned to any size campaign project and may mentor software engineers from the technical services team.
14. Has knowledge of SMS and PUSH functionality in email marketing platforms and hands-on experience in B2B and B2C process campaigns and projects.
15. Accountable for resolving client issues, proposing solutions, and escalating to the appropriate person to the point of resolution.
16. Develops and maintains robust documentation and client presentations as needed.
17. Owns special projects from start to completion, with little supervision or oversight.
18. Assists in describing issues/bugs for team members in global support and provides evidence replicating the issue if possible.
19. Escalation point of contact for team members who have technical questions or need support.

• 5+ years of experience in building complex campaigns, data import/export processes, working knowledge of APIs, and dynamic block content across various email marketing platforms.
• Expert proficiency in front-end web development with strong knowledge of hand-coding HTML and CSS, as well as scripting languages such as JavaScript and jQuery.
• Intermediate proficiency in XML, XSLT, and SQL.
• Experience testing in multiple email clients, browsers, and/or devices.
• Strong knowledge of functionalities of email marketing platforms.

• Critical thinking skills by gathering and analyzing information from a diverse set of sources to fully understand a problem and produce solutions.
