**Role Overview**

The primary objective of this position is to assist in the continued development and maturity of our platform observability and monitoring capabilities, thereby ensuring high levels of production service management.

Responsibilities:

  • Technical Architecture Expertise: Familiarity with systems and applications architecture patterns to understand dependencies, points of failure, impacts, and interfaces for effective monitoring recommendations.
  • Platform Health Facilitation: Utilize various monitoring platforms and frameworks to observe platform health, resolve service impacting issues through triage, runbook execution, and remediation actions.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Effectively communicate critical incidents and observed patterns to stakeholders to ensure awareness.
  • Monitoring Process Champion: Establish and adhere to established monitoring principles, processes, and tools; encourage teams to adopt best practices by providing demonstrations and documentation.
  • Consultation and Advice: Collaborate with senior management and engineers on monitoring topics to drive informed decision-making.
  • Policies and Processes: Create, refine, implement, document, and maintain monitoring policies and processes to manage observability costs through architectural insight and operational reporting.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of two years of experience in monitoring, preferably with the AWS cloud platform.
  • A minimum of three years of Windows administration experience.
  • Proven expertise in AWS Cloudwatch, Cloudtrail, and Log Insights.
  • Ability to analyze complex technical systems, specifically web application architectures.
  • Intermediate Powershell skills.
  • Understanding of basic web application architecture resources such as IIS, SQL, Fileservices, etc.
  • Understanding of basic AWS resources such as EC2, S3, Load Balancers, EBS, etc.
  • Evidence of process improvements in a medium to large organization.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
