Job Title: Senior IT Operations Specialist

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced IT operations specialist to join our team. As a key member of our infrastructure team, you will be responsible for the planning, implementation, and management of our MySQL databases and Linux servers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Database Administration: Perform installation, configuration, upgrades, replication setup/monitoring, and user management for MySQL databases.
  • Database Performance Optimization: Monitor database health, troubleshoot metadata locks, slow queries, replication lag, and optimize performance to ensure high availability and reliability.
  • Linux Server Management: Manage Linux servers, including user management, process monitoring, cron jobs, package updates, and system resource checks to ensure optimal server performance.
  • Backup and Recovery: Implement and monitor backup and recovery processes using tools like mysqldump or Percona XtraBackup to ensure data integrity and recoverability.
  • Patching and Upgrades: Perform routine patching, upgrades, and security hardening for MySQL and Linux environments to maintain system security and stability.
  • Troubleshooting and Support: Troubleshoot and resolve L2 support tickets; escalate complex issues to L3 with proper RCA inputs to ensure timely resolution.
  • Capacity Planning and Audits: Participate in DR drills, capacity planning, and system audits to ensure alignment with business objectives and identify areas for improvement.
  • Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Create and maintain runbooks, SOPs, and knowledge base documentation to facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration within the team.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Strong experience in MySQL database administration, including installation, configuration, and optimization.
  • Proficiency in Linux server management, including user management, process monitoring, and system resource checks.
  • Knowledge of backup and recovery processes, including tools like mysqldump or Percona XtraBackup.
  • Experience with patching, upgrades, and security hardening for MySQL and Linux environments.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with ability to escalate complex issues to L3 as needed.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to create and maintain accurate documentation, including runbooks, SOPs, and knowledge base articles.
