Import Executive Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Import Executive to join our team. This role will involve handling all import-related tasks, from documentation to cargo management.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  1. Preparation and submission of export documents, including packing lists and bills of lading;
  2. Generating insurance certificates through online portals and ensuring sufficient insured amounts;
  3. Knowledge of hazardous cargo handling, including understanding Haz Classes, Packing Groups, and Dangerous Goods Declarations;
  4. Communication and coordination with various stakeholders, including factories, CHAs, forwarders, transporters, shipping lines, and customers;
  5. Negotiation of air or sea freight with forwarders, shipping lines, or CHAs;
  6. Checking and approving shipment checklists and other relevant documents;
  7. Coordination with freight forwarders for flight or vessel bookings;
  8. Arrangement of courier shipments through DHL or FedEx;
  9. Knowledge of Letter of Credit (LC) shipments;
  10. Ensuring regular review and understanding of SCOMET and Narcotics requirements for every shipment;
  11. Resolution of queries from export customers promptly and efficiently;
  12. Arrangement of transport for FCL shipments and factory stuffing;
  13. Application for Preferential and Non-preferential COOs online;
  14. Ability to handle multiple shipments at a time efficiently;
  15. Sending final shipment documents to customers and tracking cargo till delivery;
  16. Maintenance of accurate records for all export shipments, including up-to-date status of EGM and RODTEP benefits;
  17. Knowledge of RODTEP Scrip generation and other DGFT/ICEGATE applications;
  18. Arrangement of relevant packing considering the nature of shipments, especially for dangerous goods;
  19. Ensure compliance with import/export regulations, including HS codes, tariffs, and taxes;
  20. Maintenance of accurate records and reports, including import data and compliance documents;
  21. Collaboration with internal teams to ensure alignment and efficiency;
  22. Stay updated on changes in import/export regulations and company policies;

  • Proficiency in MS Office;
  • Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
