Job Summary:

As a distinguished engineer, you will design and implement high-precision control systems for real-time laser targeting, leveraging advanced algorithms to deliver precise results. Your expertise in motor control and precision positioning systems will be pivotal in developing robust BLDC motor control algorithms, ensuring seamless integration with AI and perception teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement sophisticated gimbal and motor control systems for real-time laser targeting, utilizing cutting-edge technologies to drive innovation.
  • Develop and refine complex BLDC motor control algorithms, achieving microsecond precision and ensuring optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate sensor fusion pipelines, combining IMU, GNSS, RTK, odometry, and custom sensors to enhance system accuracy.
  • Test and optimize control systems in real-world field conditions, overcoming challenges such as dust, heat, vibrations, and uneven terrain.
  • Scale your work to multi-laser, multi-unit robotic platforms, driving efficiency and productivity in agricultural settings.
  • Implement robust safety mechanisms, redundancy, and fail-safe protocols to ensure reliable field deployment.
  • Partner with mechanical engineers to integrate actuators, gimbals, and hardware subsystems, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.

Qualifications:

  • Proven expertise in BLDC motor control, precision positioning systems, and advanced control theory (PID, adaptive control, state-space).
  • Hands-on experience with programming languages such as C++ and Python on embedded systems, with a strong focus on efficiency and optimization.
  • Proficiency in ROS/ROS2 and communication protocols (CAN, Ethernet), ensuring seamless integration with other systems.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, balancing multiple priorities and delivering results under tight deadlines.

Preferred:

  • Experience in agricultural robotics, precision agriculture, or outdoor robotics, with a deep understanding of the nuances involved.
  • Knowledge of laser systems and safety standards, ensuring compliance and regulatory adherence.
  • Exposure to machine learning integration in control systems, driving innovation and improving system performance.
  • Background in hardware-in-the-loop testing or ruggedized system design, with a focus on reliability and durability.
