System Application Specialist

The role of a System Application Specialist is pivotal in the success of our organization's ongoing endeavors. This position entails close collaboration with various teams to ensure seamless support and training for PowerSchool customers.

  • Ensure the maintenance and upkeep of business applications, including regular updates, new installations, and bug fixes as needed.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting and resolving escalated application incidents and problems, acting as a point of escalation for support issues that cannot be resolved by the Help Desk.
  • Collaborate directly with IT and Development on new implementations and project work.
  • Assist users in finding ways to utilize software and technology more effectively and securely.
  • Evaluate and test new software and business solutions to ensure compatibility and efficacy.
  • Maintain data security and integrity for all PowerSchool applications.
  • Regularly audit and monitor systems for deficiencies, performing necessary maintenance as required.
  • Exercise independent judgment to analyze and diagnose application-related problems and issues.
  • Provide application training for existing users and new employees.
  • Explore new solutions, including testing, design, modifications, and deployment required to meet both company and client business requirements.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field, or equivalent combination of education and/or work-related experience.
  • Strong knowledge of standard IT practices and workflows.
  • Advanced knowledge and application troubleshooting skills with industry-specific applications.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and organizational skills.

Preferred

  • 3-5 years of relevant job experience, ideally with prior experience working within the education software industry.
  • Experience with building dashboards or a deep understanding of Business Intelligence.
  • Able to learn and understand business processes as they relate to application usage, internal controls, security, and technology.
  • Strong project management, verbal and written communication skills, and customer service skills.
  • Able to work independently and take ownership of problems and issues, ensuring timely resolution.
