Lead QA Automation Engineer Role

We are seeking a seasoned Lead QA Automation Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of our Enterprise TruRisk Platform. This platform will empower customers to effectively measure, communicate, and eliminate cyber risks.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, documenting, and maintaining testing frameworks. They will work closely with the team to ensure the quality of core product capabilities using micro-services and Big Data based components.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic team building Qualys' next generation platform using Big Data & Micro-Services based technology. The successful candidate will leverage open-source technologies and work on challenging business-impacting initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead automation efforts to achieve maximum automation coverage.
  • Develop and maintain automation frameworks using Java and Selenium.
  • Automate big data workflows such as ingestion, aggregation, ETL processing, and debugging/troubleshooting issues within the big data ecosystem.
  • Set up and configure the Big data platform and Hadoop ecosystem for testing purposes.
  • Define test strategies and write test plans for data platform enhancements and new features/services built on it.
  • Establish operating procedures, service monitors, and alerts, and collaborate with the NOC team to implement them.
  • Perform system and performance testing of the data platform and applications.
  • Solve complex problems, establish plans, and provide technical consultation in the design, development, and test effort of engineering projects.
  • Review product specifications, write test cases, develop test plans, and identify issues and technical interdependencies.
  • Contribute to Test Automation Development/Enhancement and recreate complex customer and production reported issues to determine root cause and verify fixes.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • 8-10 years of experience in full-time testing roles and at least 4-6 years in hands-on automation roles as lead.
  • Hands-on experience with Java, Selenium, and building/designing automation frameworks.
  • Experience with automating backend applications (e.g., database, REST APIs).
  • Familiarity with CI-CD pipelines and integrating automation frameworks for ease of use.
  • Knowledge of relational databases and SQL, good debugging skills, and working experience in Linux/Unix environments.
  • Good understanding of testing methodologies and experience working with Big Data technologies like Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, and Elastic.
