Job Opportunity: Kafka SME

The role of a Kafka SME involves working closely with the Observability Backend team to deliver high-quality solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and improve monitoring and alerting rules for Kafka clusters to ensure optimal performance.
  • Own the migration of Kafka clusters from on-prem DCs to AWS, planning and implementing requirements and supervising the process.
  • Design and implement stress-tests for Kafka to measure its performance limits.
  • Enhance cluster topology to increase performance limits and mitigate issues with Kafka's functioning.
  • Monitor and analyze Kafka performance, identify deviations, document corrective actions, and implement them.
  • Maintain Kafka's SLA (99.9% availability).
  • As a member of the Observability Backend team, participate in on-call rotation and be able to mitigate issues using runbooks for services like Elastic search, Thanos, Tempo, and Flink.

  • Experience in working with Kafka clusters and delivering scalable solutions.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify performance bottlenecks and optimize Kafka configuration.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
