Job Summary:

The role of Executive - Seed Contract Farming is responsible for identifying and developing new isolated geographies for potato seed multiplication, seed production of Generation 2 & 3 through Contract Farming Model, and achieving yield targets while maintaining quality of the seed and forecasting yields.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Selecting new geographies for Seed Multiplication which are in isolation from ware potato crop and having good yield potential
  • Skill development of growers for doing quality seed multiplication
  • Selecting best growers for the seed multiplication through contract farming
  • Establishing strong relationships with both current and new growers
  • Planning for planting and procurement from farmers of targeted quantity and quality
  • Advising growers on crop management, advising on problems and alternative solutions, providing technical and planning assistance as per company's guidelines
  • Building capability of growers to increase the yields – Through trainings and visits
  • Recording and capturing accurate crop data in company authorized software for real-time reporting and analytics
  • Forecasting potential losses in crop through weather, pests or diseases and making the plan to mitigate them

Requirements:

Academic:

  • Must have: An Agriculture graduate with 2-5 years of experience in agriculture industry, preferably contract farming and production of agriculture commodities
  • Nice to have: A Agri-MBA with 3-5 years of experience in potato contract farming

Related Work Experience (Internal to the organization or external):

  • Should manage conflict resolution situations both within the team function and with outside suppliers and seek win/win solutions
