Key Roles and Responsibilities

As a Senior PostgreSQL Support Engineer, you will be responsible for providing high-level support to our clients. This includes owning the toughest tickets, acting as the final escalation point for complex incidents, and designing and automating deployments of PostgreSQL in Kubernetes.

The successful candidate will have expertise in Linux and shell scripting, as well as experience with Prometheus/Grafana monitoring stacks. They will also possess excellent problem-solving skills, written/spoken English, and customer-facing skills.

In addition to these core responsibilities, the role involves:

  • Tuning and optimizing PostgreSQL for performance
  • Building and operating resilient clusters with Patroni, repmgr, streaming replication, synchronous replication, and DR strategies
  • Designing and implementing secure and compliant solutions to meet GDPR, SOC 2, HIPAA, or ISO 27001 requirements
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • 5+ years administering PostgreSQL in production at scale (v9.6–15+)
  • Deep expertise in Linux (RHEL/CentOS, Ubuntu) and shell scripting (Bash, Python)
  • Proven track record with Kubernetes and PostgreSQL Operators
  • Mastery of performance tuning: query plans, WAL tuning, connection pooling (PgBouncer, Pgpool-II)
  • Hands-on with Prometheus/Grafana monitoring stacks
  • Excellent problem-solving, written/spoken English, and customer-facing skills
