We are seeking a highly skilled mechanical engineer to lead the integration of mechanical systems for our cutting-edge Scanning Electron Microscope.

This is an exciting opportunity to own the mechanical architecture, compact vacuum chamber, precise motion stage, and serviceable enclosure that makes the instrument fast from sample-load to image.

To be successful in this role, you should have experience with vacuum practice, precision motion, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, and design for manufacturability.

  • Design and develop mechanical systems for our Scanning Electron Microscope
  • Integrate mechanics, optics, electronics, and software to deliver a robust and reliable instrument

Mechanical Engineering Expertise:

  • Vacuum Practice: Experience with vacuum systems and practices
  • Precision Motion: Knowledge of precision motion systems and their applications
  • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing: Understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing principles
  • Design for Manufacturability: Ability to design products with manufacturability in mind

Key Responsibilities:

  • Mechanical Architecture: Design and develop the mechanical architecture, including the compact vacuum chamber, precise motion stage, and serviceable enclosure
  • System Integration: Integrate mechanics, optics, electronics, and software to deliver a robust and reliable instrument

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in the field of scientific instruments or automation
