Director of Engineering @ ZET:

As the Director of Engineering at ZET, you will be a critical force in our mission to revolutionize fintech and bring financial inclusion to millions of people in India. You will lead the engineering team and drive technological innovation, crafting and executing a technology strategy that aligns with our business goals.

Responsibilities:

a) Technology Vision and Strategy:

  • Define and communicate a clear engineering vision that aligns with the company's long-term objectives.
  • Drive engineering innovation, anticipating industry trends and identifying opportunities to stay ahead of the curve.
  • Lead strategic decision-making on technology investments, infrastructure and system architecture.
  • Partner with the Leadership team to ensure engineering initiatives support business goals and growth plans.

b) Leadership and Team Development:

  • Build, mentor and inspire a high-performing engineering team, cultivating a collaborative and inclusive culture.
  • Define clear roles, career paths and development opportunities to promote the professional growth of the team.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, knowledge sharing and innovation.
  • Conduct performance reviews, offer constructive feedback and implement development plans to elevate team performance.

c) Technical Leadership and Innovation:

  • Drive technical excellence by ensuring best practices in software development and architecture.
  • Oversee the development of scalable, secure and reusable technology solutions that align with business needs.
  • Champion a culture of innovation and experimentation, encouraging the development of new products, features and improvements.
  • Continuously evaluate and implement cutting-edge technologies to enhance the company's technical edge.

d) Cross-Functional Collaboration and Business Impact:

  • Collaborate closely with product management, growth, partnership and other teams to deliver innovative and customer-centric solutions.
  • Prioritize and execute technology initiatives that directly contribute to business growth, operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Build and manage relationships with technology vendors, partners and industry experts to leverage external expertise.
  • Stay informed of technology trends and assess their impact on the company's long-term strategy and competitive position.

e) Information Security and Compliance:

  • Develop and enforce robust information security policies and practices, ensuring the company remains compliant with data privacy regulations and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with the security and legal teams to address cybersecurity risks and mitigate vulnerabilities across systems and platforms.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of progressive engineering leadership experience, ideally in B2C product development or fintech.
  • Proven ability to build and lead high-performing engineering teams, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
  • Strong strategic thinking with the ability to align technology vision with business objectives.
  • Deep technical expertise in software development, architecture and design patterns, with experience in scalable and distributed systems.
  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages and modern development frameworks.
  • A proven track record of delivering impactful, scalable and secure products in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Ability to anticipate technology trends and identify opportunities for continuous innovation and improvement.
  • Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to motivate, mentor and inspire cross-functional teams.
  • Strong business acumen with a focus on driving business outcomes through technology.
