Dam Safety Expert

This role entails working with a team to analyze and develop strategies for preventing and mitigating dam-related emergencies.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the preparation of technical documents outlining potential risks and recommended solutions.
  • Develop and implement training programs for stakeholders on dam safety best practices.
  • Collaborate with experts in hydrology, hydraulic modeling, and emergency planning to ensure comprehensive understanding of dam operations.
  • Conduct regular site visits to assess dam conditions and identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide technical guidance on flood routing studies and inundation mapping.
  • Analyze data from dam safety inspections and recommend corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including DRIP Implementing Agencies and academic institutions.
  • Support the development of guidelines and standards for dam safety and emergency planning.
  • Participate in national and international conferences to share knowledge and stay up-to-date on industry trends.

To be successful in this position, you should have a degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, along with significant experience in hydrological and hydraulic modeling, dam safety, and emergency planning. You should also be proficient in using advanced tools like MIKE, HEC-HMS, etc. and have dealt with flood routing, dam break analysis, inundation mappings, and operational protocols of dams.
