Job Role & Responsibilities:

We are seeking a skilled Temporary Structure Designer to join our engineering team.

The ideal candidate will design and develop temporary works and specialized construction equipment used during bridge erection and civil infrastructure projects.

This includes form travelers, launching gantries, scaffolding, falsework, lifting frames, and consultant-designed equipment.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Design and analyze temporary structures and equipment used in bridge construction, ensuring compliance with project specifications, safety codes, and engineering standards.
  • Develop detailed CAD drawings, 3D models, and structural calculations for temporary works (e.g., formwork systems, support structures, erection equipment).
  • Coordinate with bridge design consultants, contractors, and equipment fabricators to integrate temporary structures with permanent works.
  • Perform structural analysis using software such as STAAD.Pro, Midas Civil, SofiStik etc.
  • Support construction teams by providing technical guidance during the fabrication, installation, and use of temporary works.
  • Review subcontractor designs and ensure constructability, safety, and cost-efficiency.
  • Prepare technical documentation, design reports, and method statements.
  • Conduct site visits as necessary to oversee implementation and troubleshoot structural or equipment-related issues.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in civil/Structural Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in temporary structure design, preferably in bridge or infrastructure projects.
  • Proficiency in structural design software (AutoCAD, Revit, Tekla Structures, MIDAS, etc.).
  • Knowledge of international codes and standards (e.g., Eurocodes, AASHTO, BS, EN).
  • Experience with construction staging and erection engineering is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of bridge construction methods (e.g., balanced cantilever, incremental launching, segmental, etc.).
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Familiarity with contractor operations and construction site environments.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team.
