Serve as a senior developer to drive the backend of a live, regulated financial platform being built across the Middle East. Your role will be to join a lean team where the frontend is further along than the backend and the goal is to catch up.

This is a full-time contract role (initial 3 months, possible extension) focused on core features, transactions, and secure APIs all powering a product built for real customers and regulatory scrutiny.

The client is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to own backend delivery in a TypeScript/AWS environment. Their codebase is live, but some areas need cleaning up and extending fast.

Responsibilities
  • Build and extend backend services using TypeScript/Node.js.
  • Write transactional business logic for financial flows (e.g. onboarding, withdrawals).
  • Design and maintain PostgreSQL schemas, migrations, and queries.
  • Integrate with third-party APIs securely (OAuth2, JWT).
  • Improve existing systems for performance, reliability, and audit requirements.
  • Collaborate via GitHub and CI/CD workflows.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of backend engineering experience, ideally in financial services.
  • Strong TypeScript/Node.js skills, productive from day one.
  • Hands-on with AWS Lambda and serverless patterns.
  • PostgreSQL experience, schema design, performance tuning, real-world queries.
  • Solid understanding of building secure, documented REST APIs.
  • Able to work independently and communicate clearly.
