Job Overview

The role of Merchandiser plays a pivotal part in the end-to-end merchandising process, serving as a bridge between buyers, suppliers, and production teams. Effective coordination, costing knowledge, and ability to deliver products that meet buyer specifications, quality standards, and timelines are key attributes required for success in this position.

Main Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Design team to develop seasonal collections based on customer requirements.
  • Create prototypes, negotiate prices, and confirm orders with buyers.
  • Manage material procurement within stipulated timelines while improving budgets and costs.
  • Demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, work independently, and adapt to changing environments and challenges.
  • Handle both small and high-value business operations.
  • Maintain strong communication with customers, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Understand technical aspects of woven garment manufacturing, including shirts, jackets, and bottoms.
  • Exhibit leadership skills and a high level of ownership and commitment to job responsibilities for result-driven achievements.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Textiles, Apparel Merchandising, or Fashion Technology, or equivalent qualification.
  • 1-8 years of experience as a Merchandiser in a woven garment factory (buyer-handling experience preferred).
  • Strong understanding of woven fabrics, garment construction, costing, and production processes.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and ERP/MIS systems.
  • Able to multitask, handle pressure, and meet strict deadlines.
